Meet the Korolenkos

Alan and Helene Korolenko are in their sixteenth year as Artistic Directors of the New Bedford Summerfest. Their first experience presenting a music event was as members of the Steering Committee of the SMU Eisteddfod from 1987 to 1988. Since then, they have presented the Heritage Concerts at the Rotch-Jones-Duff House and Garden Museum from 1989 to 1998; the Music Through Time Concerts at the New Bedford Whaling Museum from 1996 to 2008; the WUMB Boston Folk Festival from 1998 to 1999; the Concerts in the Café at the Café Arpeggio from 2005 to 2007 and the recent On Stage Folk Café at the Zeiterion Performing Arts Theater from 2010 to 2011. They also have taken busloads of reading enthusiasts on Greenwich Village Booklovers Adventures since 2008. They are currently working with the New Bedford Economic Development Council preparing digital walking tours of New Bedford. In her spare time Helene likes gardening and cooking. In his spare time Alan likes to watch Helene garden and cook and enjoys the results of her labors.
