Directions

New Bedford is located approximately 60 miles south of Boston and 30 miles east of Providence, RI. Summerfest is held within the New Bedford Whaling National Historical Park in downtown New Bedford.

Route 18 in New Bedford will be under construction this summer. There will be a detour route (see map) in place to get to downtown New Bedford:

• Take exit 15 off I 195 for Rte 18 South
• Take the Purchase St. exit off Rte 18
• Go left at the lights at the end of the exit ramp onto Purchase St.
• Go to the second set of lights to a multi-street intersection and bear slightly right
• the street is now N 6th Street
• Take the next left onto Middle Street
• to get to the Elm St. Parking garage (free) continue on Middle and take a right on Acushnet Ave, and a left on to Elm
• To get to Zeiterion Parking garage (free) stay on Acushnet to Spring St., the garage is just past Spring. (No access on Saturday until after 2 PM because of the Cape Verdean Parade)
